Icelandair reaches TrueChoice Transitions agreement with GE on CF6 engines

Icelandair signed a TrueChoiceTM Transitions agreement with GE Aviation for three overhauls of its CF6-80C2 engines powering its Boeing 767 aircraft, as well as an engine lease.

"We are pleased to have come to this CF6-80C2 maintenance agreement with GE and look forward to working with them," said Unnar Sumarlidason, Engineering manager, Icelandair. "We trust them to deliver the excellence we expect from our engine maintenance provider.

Headquartered at Reykjavik Airport, Icelandair offers one-stop transatlantic service from 16 cities in North America to more than 20 destinations in Europe, offering passengers the opportunity for layovers in Iceland of up to seven days.

The TrueChoice suite of engine maintenance offerings for commercial aviation industry emphasizes the breadth and depth of capabilities and customization across the entire engine lifecycle. The TrueChoice suite includes:

  • TrueChoice Flight Hour provides customized offerings that help optimize cost of ownership over the entire engine lifecycle with flexible risk transfer and payment options.
  • TrueChoice Overhaul provides time and material overhauls with tailored workscopes specific to shop visit objectives, economic priorities and ownership horizon - whether for one engine or an entire fleet.

For lessors, GE offers products specifically designed to accommodate a change in owner or operator.
