Industry publication cites Pratt & Whitney among nation's 16 best
Pratt & Whitney, a division of United Technologies Corp., has been named one of America's Safest Companies for 2019 by EHS Today magazine.
Recognized for a stellar record that "provides a safe working environment for thousands of employees," Pratt & Whitney was recently presented the award by EHS Today during the Safety Leadership Conference in Dallas.
"Our 42,000 colleagues worldwide contribute every day to our culture of safety, and should be proud of this recognition. The Environment, Health & Safety program continuously improves, through the focus on starting with safety and making safety a personal choice at work and at home," said Lisa Szewczul, Pratt & Whitney vice president of Environment, Health & Safety. "EHS Today's selection criteria are as stringent as our own standards of performance, which is why we hold this in such high regard. Our thanks to EHS Today for this recognition."
Pratt & Whitney was awarded among 16 top-performing U.S. companies based on its total recordable and lost time injury rates. EHS Today also recognized Pratt & Whitney for its rigorous training, leadership commitment and employee participation – all of which have driven the safety culture.
"Pratt & Whitney's 'Start with Safety' principles underscore its commitment to employees in how it conducts day-to-day business," said Dave Blanchard, senior director of content, EHS Today. "Shared responsibility, continuous improvement and focus on leading indicators all have been central to Pratt & Whitney building a program that makes a solid business case for EHS. We congratulate Pratt & Whitney for their culture of safety excellence."
