Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. today announced that Leda Chong has been appointed senior vice president of Government Programs and Sales. She reports to Mark Burns, president, Gulfstream, and is based in Savannah.

In her new role, Chong is responsible for worldwide government and special mission sales and marketing, as well as international relations and business development.

“During Leda’s tenure at Gulfstream, she has made tremendous strides in advancing our business and business aviation interests in the U.S., Asia and many other markets around the world,” said Burns. “Her leadership in government and international affairs and strategic planning will serve Gulfstream well as we continue to deliver on our promises to government, head-of-state, military and special mission customers.”

Chong previously served as Gulfstream's senior vice president, Strategic Planning, and led the identification and pursuit of strategic business opportunities for Gulfstream, with particular emphasis on international markets. She also served as Gulfstream’s senior vice president, Asia Pacific.

Chong came to Gulfstream from parent company General Dynamics, where she was the head of the Asia-Pacific region for the General Dynamics Aerospace business group, which includes Gulfstream and Jet Aviation.

Chong joined General Dynamics in 2007 as a director of government relations and was appointed staff vice president of government relations in 2009. In that role, she led and directed advocacy initiatives for businesses in the federal, civil and intelligence communities.

Prior to joining General Dynamics, Chong served in the U.S. Navy, retiring in the rank of commander. She is a native of Hong Kong and fluent in Chinese. Chong graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, San Diego.
