Readying for Red Flag

For the first time in history, the Indian Air Force (IAF) is at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho to train with US fighters prior to participating in Exercise Red Flag at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, from August 9 to 23.

Exercise Red Flag is a multinational air exercise held thrice a year. The IAF would be participating in the exercise alongside the South Korean Air Force with F-15K and KF-16 and the French Air Force with the latest Rafale, apart from the USAF. The IAF would be participating in the exercise with eight Su-30 MKI aircraft, two IL-78 air-toair refuellers and one IL-76 transport aircraft. The contingent comprises 156 personnel below officers rank and 91 officers (including 10 members of Garud IAF Special Force team) led by Group Captain D. Chaudhury and Exercise Coordinator Group Captain Ajay Rathore.
